Celtics Sweep The Triangle

SportsCenter 5’s Mike Dowling is in Dallas…

The Celtics took the Bill Belichick/Patriot approach to their monumental task of the Texas Triangle and came out of it with similar results to their professional brothers from Foxborough.

Thursday night, the 55-13 Celtics completed the NBA’s first 3-game sweep of the Lone Star State in seven years with a come-from-behind 94-90 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

That win followed Tuesday night’s win over Houston snapping the Rockets 22-game win streak, and Monday night’s impressive win over the defending NBA champion Spurs when the C’s overcame a 22 point defecit.

Doc Rivers reaction: “we stressed taking this tough road swing one game at a time.” Rivers also said that the Spurs win was the biggest, but Thursday night’s win over Dallas was a close second considering the C’s played their worst game of the 3 but still managed to pull it out.

Rivers credited James Posey as the unsung hero of all three games even though Posey barely scored in the first 2 Texas games. Posey was 4 of 5 in Dallas with a big 3-pointer for 10 points, and he added some big defense on Dallas’s best players.

‘Big Game James’ Posey

Next up for the Celtics – the New Orleans Hornets Saturday night in the Big Easy. It’s a game that will be anything but easy against the Hornets who hold the second best record in the West at 46-21.
