Syracuse is off to a HOT start in the second half, coming right out of the gate with goals by Danny Hardy and Steven Brooks (#44). But Hopkins got one right back about :30 later, as Paul Rabil beat John Galloway to close within 2.
At 10:02 in the 3rd, Kevin Huntley scores his 2nd goal of the game for the Blue Jays, a laser beam right by Galloway, to make it an 8-7 game.
When Brendan Loftus scores for Syracuse at the 8:02 mark it dawns on me that the Gillette Stadium crew is simply using the usual Patriots music for EVERYTHING. I guess these are the things only I notice hearing them so often… but it’s Zombie Nation when Syracuse scores, Blur for Hopkins (the Woo Hoo! song) and Thunderstruck out of time outs. Come on guys, this is a title game! Let’s break into the alt rock vault here! 9-7 Orange.
Paul Rabil just scored again for Hopkins – his FOURTH of the game. But Syracuse comes right back out of the box as Dan Hardy scores his third goal of the game. 10-8 Orange, and that’s the score after three quarters.
Just to show you how dominant some schools are in lacrosse, in Division II, NYIT beat LeMoyne (also in Syracuse) yesterday for the title… those 2 teams have traded the championship on and off over the past few years. Salisbury beat Cortland State to repeat as Division III champs. Salisbury has won 45 games in a row and is a ridiculous 124-2 over the past six years.
Back to wrap it up in a minute.
