Tommy Points

Leon Powe must have a dozen of them tonight. He’s racked up 18 points so far and I don’t think he’s missed a FG attempt yet. The crowd is chanting his name, which has to be a huge moment in his young career.

With 9 minutes left in the game, the Celtics lead by 21. Almost time to head downstairs for the post game. We’ll be back with some closing thoughts after the game (more likely from the airport at 6 AM!).

UPDATE: I guess I spoke too soon! The moment I got in the elevator the Lakers went on a furious run, putting up 41 points in the 4th quarter to at one point close to within 4 of the Celtics as the clock wound down. Luckily, the Celtics were able to hold on and win 108-102. As Lynchie said on our postgame show, the Celtics just didn’t manage the clock very well, giving the Lakers too much time to put together a crazy comeback. That kind of play isn’t going to fly in Los Angeles, where the Lakers have been unbeatable during the postseason.
