Welcome Back

At noon Theo Epstein and Terry Francona addresses the media. We had a chance to speak with Theo one on one ( you can watch that conversation on SportsCenter 5 at 6pm), and he spoke about his enthusiasm for the start of another new season. He told us it was a long winter dealing with agents and contracts. When you stop and think about it Theo hit .750 this winter, signing Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis to long term deals and getting Jason Varitek back. Theo told me he never doubted Varitek would be back and he truly values his leadership but expects a better offensive output from Varitek this season. Theo was frank in his thoughts about his pursuit of the Red Sox catcher of the future – be it inside or outside the organization.
Physicals and conditioning runs tomorrow followed by the first workout for pitchers and catchers on Saturday.
