1st 5 Innings- Beckett

Josh Beckett looks good-striking out 7, giving up just 1 hit and 1 run in 5 innings, but his supporting offense looks even better. Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis have picked up right where they left off last year by collecting a pair of hits-Pedroia a HR in his 1st at bat and Youk with a single and a run scored. The Red Sox lead 4-1. And they are doing it against a good pitcher in Tampa’s James Shields.

JD Drew has hit 2 balls very hard-one going for a double and the other he was robbed by Haverhill’s Carlos Pena, the 1st baseman for the Rays .

It’s still cold and getting colder which has got to be good news for Beckett, and great news for you in your cozy warm house.
